Stay and Eat is owned and operated by Culture Media, LLC (“Culture Media,” “we,” “us,” or “Stay and Eat”), a limited liability company based in Connecticut, United States. This page explains what information we collect, how it is used, and the choices you have. You can reach us about privacy at contact@stayandeat.com.
What we collect
- Account information: a username and email address when you register. Your email is used for account access and notifications about your submissions. It is never displayed publicly and never sold or shared with advertisers.
- Your contributions: reviews, ratings, photos, and venue suggestions you submit, along with the display name you choose to show with them.
- Technical basics: like nearly all websites, our server keeps standard access logs (including IP address) for security and reliability, and login uses cookies.
Cookies and analytics
We use only what we need. Cookies are used to keep you logged in. Our spam protection, Google reCAPTCHA, sets its own cookies and is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. For visitor statistics we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that do not track you across sites or build a profile of you. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
Service providers
We share limited information only with providers who help us run the site: our web host (DreamHost) and Google reCAPTCHA for spam protection. We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising.
What is public
Only what you choose to publish: your reviews, ratings, photos, and the display name you enter with them. Venue suggestions may show your first name only if you provide it for credit.
Your rights
You can access, correct, or delete your personal information. You can delete your own reviews any time from My Reviews; to change a review, delete it and submit a new one. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under the GDPR, California under the CCPA/CPRA, and Connecticut and other U.S. states), you may also have rights to access, delete, correct, or port your data, and to opt out of sale or sharing — we do not sell or share. To make a request, email contact@stayandeat.com from the address on your account, and we will respond as required by law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Data retention
We keep your account and contributions while your account is active. If you delete a review it is removed from public view; if you close your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information except what we must keep for legal or security reasons.
Children
Stay and Eat is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security and international use
We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, though no method is completely secure. We operate from the United States; if you use the site from elsewhere, your information is processed in the U.S.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the effective date above.
